Happy Birthday Virginia Beach Neptune Festival! 2013 marks the 40th anniversary for this beloved festival where every year hundreds of thousands of people celebrate its many offerings! From galas to golf, wine tastings to sporting events, the festival offers something for everyone! Beginning August 30 and throughout September, there are a multitude of Neptune events including the End of Summer Beach Bash, Neptune Fall Wine Festival, Sandman Triathlon, and Senior’s Gala. The month culminates with the excitement of Boardwalk Weekend along the beautiful Virginia Beach Oceanfront with entertainment for the entire family.
1. End of Summer Beach Bash

The Endless Summer Beach Bash has become the Neptune Festival's famous "end of summer party.” Held at the Cavalier Beach Club on 42nd Street at the Oceanfront, dress up in your best "beach casual” attire for a grand evening of friends and fun, sumptuous hors d'oeuvres, cold adult beverages, and partying to the sounds of "Right On" under the stars and all overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. 2. Neptune Festival Fall Wine Festival

Come experience the leading Virginia vintners during the 17th Annual Neptune Fall Wine Festival. The beautiful backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean and a hint of autumn in the breeze make for an ideal setting for Virginia’s premier wineries to highlight the annual gathering of the Old Dominion’s finest vineyards.
Guests can sample Virginia wines plus enjoy delectable gourmet food, live music and specialty vendors. Saturday tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the gate. Sunday, tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the gate. Your ticket purchase includes a commemorative wine glass and tastings during the event. 6. 31st Annual Sandman Triathlon

This grueling test of physical conditioning includes a 1K (750 meter) open ocean swim, 14-mile bike ride and 5K (3.1 mile) run. Known as one of the best triathlons in the mid-Atlantic region, the event hosted over 700 participants and thousands of spectators last year. 7. BOARDWALK WEEKEND - Neptune Festival’s Grand Finale!

Highlights include a continual series of daily outdoor concerts along 35 blocks of the Boardwalk with a variety of live music; over 300 artisans showcasing their talent during the Neptune Art & Craft Show; a spectacular Saturday night fireworks display over the Atlantic Ocean; volleyball tournament; Atlantic Sailing Regatta; and an 8K and 5K run. Additionally, the Grand Parade features more than 100 floats, military units, costumed characters and marching bands along the oceanfront. Boardwalk Weekend’s signature event is the renowned Neptune’s International Sandsculpting Championship (formerly known as North American Sandsculpting Championship) on display.
Internationally known the largest competition of its kind in the United States, this event has the richest prize purse in the country and draws professional sand artists from around the globe to cultivate their finest masterpieces. These showy sand masterpieces will be on display in the Neptune Sand Gallery, Neptune’s Kingdom of Sand, from Friday September 27– Sunday, October 6th. Admission to the sand gallery is $5.00 per adult with children 12 and under free when accompanied by an adult. Please note that dogs are NOT allowed inside the gallery. The award winning Virginia Beach Neptune Festival began in 1974 and has blossomed over the years into the city’s official celebration and largest event as well as one of the most successful festivals on the East Coast.
