VolunteeringOpportunities

The Virginia Beach Neptune Festival would not be possible without the crucial service of our approximately 1,200 volunteers. Beyond pure logistical support, Neptune Festival Volunteers bring a special atmosphere of community involvement, ownership, and fun to our events. Any and all help is greatly appreciated – whether helping visitors at an information booth during Boardwalk Weekend, selling tickets at one of our Wine Festivals, or working on the construction of a float for the Grand Parade – there is invaluable work to be done by volunteers of all ages and skill levels.

The need for volunteers is not limited to actually working at an event. There are plenty of opportunities to help out with planning, preparation, and general support in between events so we encourage you to sign up as a potential volunteer even if you cannot make it to one of the following events. To sign up visit the application page under the volunteer drop-down menu. To find out more about the Neptune Festival Arts & Crafts Show click here.

Position
Descriptions

Pre-Festival Volunteer: Assist our harried and overworked staff with light tasks such as answering phones, stuffing envelopes or rolling posters.

Ticket Sales: Do people say you have the gift of gab or a winning sales style? Help us sell tickets to fun events such as the Earthshakers Ball, Wine Festival, or the Grand Ball and Presentation.

Spring and Fall Wine Festivals: Think you know a little something about wine? Or do you enjoy greeting crowds, collecting tickets and putting on wrist bands? We're certain to have a job for you at these events.

Golf Tournament: Even if you know nothing about the game, we've got a spot for you. Whether you are a hole monitor, sell raffle tickets, or drive a beverage cart, you're sure to enjoy the fresh air and fun at the Golf Tournament.

Sandman Triathlon: Help keep our athletes safe! Being a Course Marshall means monitoring streets blocked to motor vehicle access. We have lots of other positions as well including assisting at Packet Pick-up, Hospitality, and Water Stops. It takes close to 200 volunteers to facilitate this premier event of the Festival - come join us!

Sandsculpting Championships: You can provide transportation from the airport for our Master Artists who are arriving from all over the world, prepare sites for the Youth, Master or Business competitions, or assist with clean-up after the event. Bring your sunscreen and enjoy a day at the beach!

Boardwalk Set-up/Breakdown: If you've got the muscles, we've got the jobs. This may include loading and unloading trucks, hanging banners, etc. We promise you will be extremely appreciated for your hard work.

8K Run: Similar to the opportunities listed under Sandman Triathlon, we need Course Marshalls, assistance at registration, and volunteers to provide water to our athletes. Come and cheer on our amazing runners!

Grand Parade: From the beginning of the Parade route to the end, we can use your help. You can help check-in parade participants and direct them to their staging area, be a Block Marshall to ensure safety and maintain the speed and pacing of participants, help set up the judges reviewing stands, or help direct participants to disband areas. Here's your chance to get involved in one of the Festival's most exciting traditions!
