Virginia Beach, VA: The Virginia Beach Neptune Festival is pleased to announce that the 44th Annual Neptune Festival commemorative poster is now available. Hampton Roads’ artist Rick Ricketts was commissioned for the original artwork. The 2017 posters are 18” x 24” and suitable for framing. They can be purchased for $25 each or $35 for a signed limited edition poster at the Festival office at 265 Kings Grant Road, Suite #102 in Virginia Beach. They will also be available during Boardwalk Weekend, September 29– October 1, 2017 According to Ricketts, "Everything is art." That statement has been a simple philosophy of his since childhood. To look at objects as art is to see the world in a different perspective. It is the passion a person puts into his craft that defines the quality of his validity among mankind. Ricketts says he would get in trouble as a kid for drawing in his notebooks during class. To sketch a thought on paper is to release an untold story in the mind. His love for art lead him to college where he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from East Tennessee State University. It was at ETSU where he pushed himself into different areas of art. Thru these experiences he combined his passion for photography and digital art. The art he makes today is all hand drawn on the computer. Each stroke is placed and not randomly generated by a computer. The digital canvas has allowed him to push himself as an artist and he feels the future of his art is limitless and without boundaries. Says Ricketts, “Art is a passion for me, not just a job.”
