Neptune’s Annual 8K Race

Virginia Beach Neptune Festival’s Annual 8K Race
NEW Exciting Changes to One of Virginia Beach’s OLDEST and Best-Loved Races

August 19th, 2019- Virginia Beach

It may be one of Virginia Beach’s oldest and best loved races, but there is so much new to enjoy this year—a new course, new post-race party, new entertainment and lots more. Run, walk, or crawl. Pick your pace at the Neptune Festival’s 8K Race, just make sure you end up at the post-race party in the 31st Street Park after you cross the finish line. You’ll enjoy food, drinks, music, fantastic views and refreshing ocean breezes. There will be entertainment along the course and plenty of fun for racers and their guests, but pre-registration is required to participate. Please come out to cheer along racers, as viewing is free and encouraged. A course map is available HERE.

With the start and finish lines located at Neptune’s Park at 31st Street and Atlantic Ave, the race action is set to begin Saturday, September 28th at 8AM. Wheelchair participants’ start time is 8:10AM, general start time is 8:15AM and the 26-yard Crab Crawl for the age 5-and-under group begins at 9:45AM. This 43rd annual 8K Race is part of the Virginia Beach Neptune Festival’s Boardwalk Weekend – now in its 46th year.

Bring the whole family to watch the race and enjoy the Neptune Festival Boardwalk Weekend’s 35 free concerts, nationally renowned Art and Craft Show with 250 artists, Grand Parade and 34 blocks of boardwalk fun, dedicated to Celebrating the Beach Life. Entrants will also receive a t-shirt, finisher medal and one entry ticket to the Neptune Festival International Sand Sculpting Championship, taking place the same weekend.

Biscuits, granola bars, bananas, freeze pops, beer (for ages 21 & up), and non-alcoholic beverages will be on hand at the post-race party at Neptune’s park to help racers replenish their burned calories and celebrate their hard-earned achievement.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Virginia Beach Lifeguard Association, which works to educate locals and visitors about safe practices in the ocean and on the beach.
